Lens (3D Printed)

3D printing lenses provides the ability to make custom lenses quickly, and more importantly cheaply. This lens was printed on a Form 3 following my prism project. It was subsequently sprayed with more resin to take advantage of surface tension and try to smooth things out, then it was put in a lathe and wet sanded to 1000 grit.

Overall a success and taught me some important changes I’d make in the future. First of all spin coating to make that layer of new resin as thin as possible, using non yellowing resin, and most importantly a clean room. Any and all particles ruin the finish, so its best to reduce as much as possible.
