The upgrades and updates are here! The previous vacuum chamber suffered quality of life and pumping issues. By implementing the following upgrades I was able to dramatically increase performance and ease of use:
- Double Gasketed Windows (Better Sealing)
- 1″ NPT Flange Air Inlets (Faster Pumping)
- Removed Alignment Pins (Unnecessary)
- Removed operations ex. window shelf (dangerous and added expense.)
- Bolt errors corrected
By implementing these changes the chamber the chamber reached:
- 12.3millitorr using a IDP-7 Dry Scroll Pump (20millitorr base pressure)
- 220microtorr using a TwisTorr 74 FS Turbo Pump (.375microtorr base pressure)

Open in new tab In the future I plan to switch to bolted ISO to KF adapters for the air inlet, as Teflon Tape was having trouble sealing at the 1″ KF scale. I also plan on redesigning the system from scratch in Onshape, to make the system more accessible and add parametric design.
